A repair specification written properly is the cheapest cost control available to an owner. Vague scope produces low quotations and high final accounts, because everything not described becomes a variation.
Corvaden writes specifications that can be tendered — defined tonnage, defined members, defined tests, defined boundaries — and reviews the final account against them when the work is finished.
Where Corvaden is not executing the repair, this service is offered on its own. There is no requirement to award the work to Corvaden in order to have the specification written, the thickness measurement taken, or the account reviewed.
