Corvaden

Corvaden delivers ship repair, maintenance and technical services to owners, managers and operators. Ship repair is where most enquiries start. Engineering judgement — deciding what actually needs doing, in what sequence, and what can safely be left — is what the owner is buying.

The company is independent. It is not tied to a yard and not tied to an OEM, which means it has no dock capacity to fill and no parts catalogue to defend. When Corvaden recommends renewing a section of plate, docking a vessel, or leaving both alone until the next survey, nothing in the recommendation is working against the owner’s interest.

Work is executed by Corvaden’s own crews — project engineer, repair foreman, qualified welders, steel fitters, riggers and safety cover — mobilised with the equipment and consumables the scope requires.

What Corvaden is

Is

  • An independent marine engineering company
  • A mobile workforce of qualified engineers, welders and fitters
  • A contractor that mobilises to the vessel, wherever she is trading
  • An operational office at the Port of Santos, Brazil
  • A supervisor of dockings arranged through partner yards, on the owner’s behalf

Is not

  • A shipyard
  • An owner or operator of drydocks, berths or repair facilities
  • A branch network — coverage is by mobilisation, not by offices
  • An OEM, a distributor, or tied to either
  • A broker placing work and stepping back from it

The second column matters as much as the first. A supplier that overstates its facilities is found out on the first site visit, and by then it has cost the owner a schedule.

Scope, stated up front

The chronic complaint in ship repair is the low quotation followed by variation orders that double the final account. Corvaden publishes what a quotation includes and what it excludes before any figure is discussed.
